This is an automatic Flame Spread and Burn System for Gamemaker Studio 2.

Features

  • Self-spreading and burning fire
  • Objects are damaged and destroyed by flames

  • Custom Function script 'checkFor_object' you can use for a wide variety of things

Instructions

  1. Download the project folder from this page.
  2. Start Gamemaker Studio 2.
  3. Open the .yyp file inside the project folder in Gamemaker Studio 2.
  4. Get creative!

Is this system flexible enough for non-grid object placement, physics objects, and/or interpolated states?

I doubt it. I made this back when I had just started out programming. I think it's an alright basic system to start out with and make simple games with, but if you want use it in more complex ways, I think you'd be better off making something like it from scratch.
